Martin's Farewell

mpPrayers of thanks from the “Locum” (Martin Pearce) October 2014 to March 2015

It has been my joy to be the Locum at St Nicholas Sighthill Church since October 2014 and there are many thank you prayers that I offer to God as I reflect on my 6-months service There is not much that happens in Church life unless we get the prayers right so here are my some of my thank you prayers to God as I think of the many people who have lead worship, and stayed strong in faith during this vacancy period.

Heavenly Father, thank you for all the people who have helped to plan and lead worship. For those people who have selected hymns, led prayers, read scripture, participated in the children’s talk, and sung with joy in their hearts. For people who have provided flowers, cleaned and prepared the church, produced the order of service, have provided the refreshments after the service and so many other tasks.

Loving Father, thank you for all the people who have joined in prayers each week before the services to ensure that they were relevant and uplifting, and focused on your Word.

Gracious Father, thank you for all the people who have looked after the Navigators Group and Sunday Club. Thank you for the children and their energy and enthusiasm. Thank you for their parents who bring them to church faithfully each week.

Servant King, thank you for all the people who have provided the Wednesday lunches, that have organised the Guild meetings, who have supported the Christmas and fund raising events, who produced our Christian Faith leaflet to proclaim the Gospel.

Almighty God, thank you for the people who have looked after our property, finance, and administration so faithfully and the leaders of our Congregational Board.

God of faithfulness, thank you for the Kirk Session and the Nominating Committee for bringing Tom Kisitu forward as our next minister. And thank you God for Tom and Winifred, and their family, as they have offered their ministries in the service of this church family and local community.

God of Hope, thank you for bringing Stephen and Olivia, Samuel and Faustina, Isaac and Lydia, Stuart and Julie and Alastair into our church family in recent months, for giving  hope that our church family will grow in the future.

And thank you Everlasting God, for all who have stayed strong in the Christian Faith during this vacancy period, who have supported the church family by their faithful attendance at worship each week.

And most of all, I thank you for Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.
